Test 2007-08-03 05:08:55 EST @ speedtest.dslreports.com
701 / 120 (Kbps)
(85.6 / 14.7 KB/sec)
Compared to the average of 1274 tests from verizon.net:
* download is 86% worse, upload is 90% worse

I ran a speed test at dslreports.com and my computer is very slow at uploading/downloading. My torrents are taking forever to download.

The test said I may want to change my RWIN settings...how do I do this?
What else may be wrong?
I have Vista.

The numbers match Verizon's aDSL numbers 768 kbps/128 kbps that they sell for $14.99.

Compared to the average of 1274 tests from verizon.net:
* download is 86% worse, upload is 90% worse

That is because most Verizon customers are on 3 Mbps/768 kbps lines.

My torrents are taking forever to download.

That could be due to set speed limit in torrent client. If you have a router, you might have missed configuring router's firewall with an appropriate port forwarding to allow the torrent client to connect to its network.

The speed was measured at 85.6 KBps according to your first message. Your max is 96 KBps.

I think if i figure out exactly what numbers to put in the options and whether or not to check or uncheck boxes i may tweak this think enough that i can have decent speed. i was just downloading a movie at over 80 for a few minutes and then it came back down to 7....very frustrating.

Maximum upload speed

If you use your Maximum upload speed there’s not enough space left for the files you are downloading. So you have to cap your upload speed.
This is how I calculate my optimal upload speed…
upload speed * 80%
Maximum download speed

Setting your maximum download speed to unlimited will hurt your connection. So use this to calculate your optimal setting.
download speed * 90%
Maximum connected peers per torrent

upload speed * 1.3
Maximum upload slots

1 + (upload speed / 6)

so according to this i should set my max upload speed to___ of 96 kbps?
download rate to ____ of 96 kbps?

I'm confused here....

Your line's max upload speed is 16KBps (128 kbps), so I guess you should set the limit to 15KBps (120 kbps) in your torrent client. The corresponding download numbers are 96KBps (768 kbps)/90KBps (720 kbps).
